Mark Boyes
Chief Executive
Mark Boyes joined the RAF in 1987 as a Weapons
Controller (Fighter Controller) and gained significant experience in Battlespace
Management. He then continued his career by qualifying as a fighter pilot on
the Tornado F3 in 1993. After 2 squadron flying tours, Mark qualified as both
a Qualified Weapons Instructor (QWI) and Electronic Warfare Instructor (EWI). Following
a successful tour as the QWIP (instructor pilot) on V(AC) Squadron, Mark became
the fighter tactics specialist at the UK Air Warfare Centre. This experience
has given him a deep understanding of air power and capabilities across all platforms. Mark
has over 3000 fast jet flying hours, with valuable experience of flying operations
in Bosnia and Iraq, as well as extensive experience of large training exercises
such as TLP, TLT, CQWI, RED FLAG and MAPLE FLAG (both as a participant and
in the exercise management role). He brings a wealth of aviation knowledge
and experience to the Inzpire team which is augmented by his certification
as a PRINCE 2 project manager.
Hugh Griffiths 
Executive Chairman
Hugh Griffiths joined the RAF in 1987 after studying Physics
at University. He has over 3000 fast-jet flying hours as a WSO on Tornado F3
and is a both a Qualified Weapons Instructor (QWI) and Electronic Warfare Instructor
(EWI). During his career he served as a front-line flight commander and participated
in multinational air operations in the Balkans and the Persian Gulf, as well
as graduating from many highly regarded international training programmes, such
as RED FLAG, COPE THUNDER, TLT and TLP. Hugh retired from the RAF as a Wing Commander
and, for much of his career, has been deeply involved in the training, professional
development and assessment of front-line aircrew and also has a strong understanding
of the tactics, operating methods and procedures of other air forces. Having
lead the RAF analysis team at the Defence Science and Technical Laboratory (DSTL),
he has significant in-depth experience of operational analysis and operational
test/evaluation. He is a Chartered Manager and recently won the prestigious “Chartered
Manager of the Year for South East England” award. He also has an MBA from
a leading UK business school, and holds the Office of Government Commerce PRINCE
2 Practitioner, MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) and M_O_R (Management of
Risk) qualifications.
Mike Simpson
Director of Support Services
After joining the RAF in 1982 Mike Simpson enjoyed a career
flying Phantom and Tornado F3 in the counter-air role and as a pilot and
Qualified Weapons Instructor where he was deeply involved in many upgrade
and tactical development programmes. He was lucky enough
to be assigned to the F-15 as an exchange instructor pilot at Tyndall Air
Force Base Florida and, completed a tour as the Standardisation and Evaluation
flight commander for the Tornado F3. As well as operational experience
in the flying and command roles, Simpo has led an extensive career as a specialist
instructor and commanded the RAF’s adversary threat unit – 100
Sqn. He has been intimately involved in the development and operational
aspects of mission support, completing 2 tours at the RAF’s Air Warfare
Centre as a counter-air expert and, latterly, as Chief of Staff. On
retiring from the Service as a Wing Commander in 2006, after 24 years and
3500 hours military flying, Simpo worked as a Typhoon specialist for BAE
Systems, before joining Inzpire to specialise in linked synthetic training.
