Human Factors – Improving Performance

The Human Perspective
All military equipment, from the most basic trenching tool to the most sophisticated satellites, is ultimately operated by people. Even so-called “unmanned” aerial vehicles rely totally on human input. Indeed, in history’s many conflicts the behavior of people has often been the difference between success and failure. People can achieve great things or they can make disastrous mistakes. Therefore, the science of maximizing human performance, often referred to as Human Factors Training, is fundamental to the efficient operation of any armed force. Human Factors training encompasses elements of communication, leadership, teamwork, error reduction and self awareness.

Broad Applicability
Human Factors training, in the guise of Crew Resource Management training, has long been de rigeur for civilian flight deck crews on civil airliners. However, the importance of understanding how people behave in high pressure safety critical situations, and how to reduce errors and improve human performance, is slowly dawning on many other types of operation. These include medical/surgical teams, Formula One racing teams, deep-sea divers and many, more routine, businesses. 

A Wide Spectrum of Experience
Inzpire has a very strong Human Factors division who are all experienced pilots or psychologists. They have extensive training in all HF disciplines, often to Masters Degree level, and have a great deal of experience of delivering Human Factors training to a variety of military and civilian clients.
