Dheeraj Bhasin - Principal
Consultant Fast Jets
Dheeraj Bhasin joined the Royal Air Force having gained an honours degree in
Mechanical Engineering. He excelled during training and was posted to the Jaguar
as a ground attack pilot. He quickly became an Electronic Warfare Instructor
and qualified as a multi-national mission commander. He was then posted
to become a tactical reconnaissance specialist and deputy flight commander on
the Jaguar, but was soon selected for the highly prestigious Qualified Weapons
Instructor course. Having graduated from this and completed a tour as a
front line weapons instructor, he was promoted to Squadron Leader and posted
to the UK Air Warfare Centre. Here, he became Chief of Tactics for the
Jaguar, but rapidly expanded his remit into Intelligence, Combat Search and Rescue,
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles, Mission Training
Through Distributed Simulation, and Close Air Support; eventually becoming the
Deputy Chief of Tactics for the RAF. He co-ordinated the provision of tactical
advice to the front line during Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. Having
completed this tour, he was then posted to become the commander of the Jaguar
Weapons School, revolutionising Weapons Instructor training in the new era of
warfare post 9/11. During this tour, Dheeraj also served as the commander
of the Jaguar Training Flight and as a front line flight commander, eventually
becoming qualified as an instructor in five different disciplines, and becoming
a Standards and Evaluation Officer for the RAF and the Royal Air Force of Oman. During
this tour, Dheeraj also won a bombing competition, being placed first above all
European and United States Air Forces in Europe competitors. Thereafter,
Dheeraj served as the Jaguar Desk Officer in the RAF’s Air Combat Headquarters,
and subsequently as the Typhoon fleet availability manager. Dheeraj has run the
UK’s largest Air Combat exercises and completed 122 combat missions under
5 different operational codenames. He received a UK Commander Joint Operations
Commendation for Distinguished Service in the Middle East Theatre of Operations. He
has completed many major multinational exercises, and is qualified in Laser Designation
operations, Night Vision Goggle operations, and Arctic and Desert operations. He
was awarded an ability grading as a single seat fighter pilot of ‘Exceptional’.
Dheeraj continues to fly as a military reservist and is a member of a UK Mountain
Rescue Team.
