Meet the Team
Eric Heap 
- Head
of Radar and EW Division
Eric joined the RAF in 1977 and flew F4 Phantoms on 4 squadrons in the UK and
Germany as a squadron navigator, Electronic Warfare Instructor (EWI) and Qualified
Weapons Instructor (QWI). He amassed 3000 hrs on type, participating in
all the tactical flying training including Red and Green Flags, TLT and TLP and
was involved in operations in the Falklands and the Middle East. His last
full tour in the RAF was as Officer Commanding the RAF Air-to-Air Missile Establishment
with responsibility for the testing and trials of all air-to-air missiles and
their associated jet aircraft. His last year of service was heavily committed
to the 1991 Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm).
The following 13 years was spent with FR Aviation as an Electronic Warfare Officer
(EWO), Electronic Warfare (EW) training officer and manager of EW operations. In
that time, Eric flew a further 6000 hrs providing EW training to the MOD, NATO
and numerous other countries around the world. He has participated in
the front line training activities of the RAF and RN, has developed EW
training programmes for numerous other air forces, has been involved in EW trials
and development programmes, has presented at numerous international EW conferences
and been closely associated with the development of modern air warfare training
requirements. He has also been involved with the development of EW equipment
and the integration of the equipment onto platforms.
Eric has 30 years worldwide experience in Air Force training, is a member of the institutes of Personal Development and Management and has 9000 hrs front line experience in operational, and specifically EW, training.
