Mike
Simpson – Head of Synthetic Training
After joining the RAF in 1982 Mike Simpson enjoyed a career flying Phantom
and Tornado F3 in the counter-air role and as a pilot and Qualified Weapons
Instructor where he was deeply involved in many upgrade and tactical development
programmes. He was lucky enough to be assigned to the F-15 as an exchange
instructor pilot at Tyndall Air Force Base Florida and, completed a tour
as the Standardisation and Evaluation flight commander for the Tornado F3. As
well as operational experience in the flying and command roles, Simpo has
led an extensive career as a specialist instructor and commanded the RAF’s
adversary threat unit – 100 Sqn. He has been intimately involved
in the development and operational aspects of mission support, completing
2 tours at the RAF’s Air Warfare Centre as a counter-air expert and,
latterly, as Chief of Staff. On retiring from the Service as a Wing
Commander in 2006, after 24 years and 3500 hours military flying, Simpo worked
as a Typhoon specialist for BAE Systems, before joining Inzpire to specialise
in linked synthetic training.
