UAVs – Emerging Capabilities

Transforming The Battlefield
The day of the UAV has finally come. UAVs are transforming the battlefield in Iraq and Afghanistan. Future conflicts will see their role expanded dramatically. In war-fighting situations, they offer the holy grail of shortened kill-chains, at vastly reduced cost compared to conventional platforms. For peacekeeping and peace enforcement missions, they offer vital persistent ISTAR capabilities. Within the Armed Forces of the USA, their use is already widespread, while, in the UK, the MoD has made UAVs a strategic priority. The Defence Industrial Strategy of 2005 points to indigenous UAV technologies being developed in the UK; it is too important to solely rely on buying this vital capability from overseas.

Important Civilian Applications
2012 is likely to see the culmination of UK and European efforts to integrate full sense-and-avoid capabilities into UAVs.  With this achieved the way is open for UAVs to migrate into civilian roles and applications.  These include crowd control, anti-terrorism surveillance, maritime search and support to the coastguard, police, fire and intelligence services.

Extensive UAV Experience
Inzpire experts are at the forefront of UAV development in the UK. We can provide our customers with a unique insight into all key UAV issues. Our experts have operated UAVs such as Predator B and been involved in specifying UAV requirements for UK MoD. They also have extensive experience of designing and operating UAVs in a variety of roles. They are highly trained and include weapons instructor-grade aircrew, UAV specialists trained at ETPS (Empire Test Pilots School) and Aerosystems-trained military Trials Officers.  They are at the forefront of UAV thinking in both military and civilian applications. These range from “state of the art” mini-UAV Test and Evaluation programmes through to the routine use of current UAVs such as Predator B. They help our clients ensure that their products stand out in a crowded marketplace.
