We relish any opportunity to ‘Inzpire’ local children and young adults, from sponsoring youth football teams to supporting the Jon Egging Trust.
As a retired Harrier Pilot and Red Arrow, Dan Simmons (Inzpire’s Head of Aviation Experts Division) was asked by the Headmaster of Chilwell School, Nottingham, to provide a motivational talk to the School’s year 7 pupils recently.
The children were keen to hear what life is like in the Royal Air Force and to learn all about the Red Arrows. The main aim of the School’s series of weekly visiting lectures is to inspire the pupils to aim high; in this case to show them that it’s people exactly like them that will be the future Red Arrows or RAF Fighter pilots.
After a 40 minute talk, interspersed with lots of flying videos put to obligatory rock music, and some excellent questions from the pupils such as ‘do you have to pay for the plane if you crash it?’ and ‘what is the spike on the front of the aeroplane for?’ the Headmaster, Mr Ian Brierly, had an opportunity to show the kids how cool he looked in a full Red Arrows flying suit and helmet!
