The scheme, which rewards employers who
demonstrate exceptional support the armed forces community, takes in to
consideration a number of factors including employment of ex-military
personnel, forces-friendly recruitment and support to Reservists.
In order to be eligible for the Gold
Award employers must provide at least 10 days’ paid additional leave for
Reservists, actively publicise their forces-friendly policies and must advocate
support to the Armed Forces community within their sector.
Inzpire are one of 5 employers based in
the East Midlands to be recognised with the 2019 award, however are the only
company on the list as the other 4 employers are NHS trusts and councils.
Almost 80% of Inzpire’s 170 employees
are ex-military and the company has introduced and publicised a number of
policies to attract and support employees from the Armed Forces community. In
addition to its uncapped leave scheme, the company offers 15 days’ paid leave
to employees who are Reservists, has specific HR policies to support the
families of employees who are deployed on Reservist duties and offers a
guaranteed interview scheme to military spouses and partners.
As a demonstration of its continued
support to the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, Inzpire has pledged to
offer help, guidance and best practice to any local employers who would like to
employ ex-military personnel.
Hugh Griffiths, CEO of Inzpire Limited
said: “We are overjoyed that Inzpire has
been recognised as one of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award
winners for 2019. This means the world to us since 80% of our employees are
ex-military and we really admire the military work ethic and ethos.
“We feel that ex-military personnel are sometimes disadvantaged, so we
take great pride in supporting them and the wider Armed Forces Community. We
are extremely proud of being able to promote best practice for recruitment from
the Armed Forces Community and support to our reservist personnel through
enhanced paid leave provision.”
Zara McArdle, Recruitment and Development
Specialist at Inzpire said: “As a veteran and spouse myself, I am
exceptionally proud that Inzpire’s HR policies have been recognised for being supportive
of the Armed Forces community. We have worked hard to ensure veterans and their
families are supported during their recruitment and during their employment
with us.
As a community, the Armed Forces often
face unconscious bias from employers who do not fully understand them, which is
disappointing. I am determined to make a difference and would be more than
happy to share best practice around recruiting from service communities with
any local organisations who want to initiate a change”.
Two of our reservist employees, Andy Bain (L) and Philip Johnston-Davis
Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace
explained: “these awards recognise the outstanding support for our armed forces
from employers across Britain and I would like to thank and congratulate each
and every one.
“Regardless of size, location or
sector, employing ex-forces personnel is good for business and this year we
have doubled the number of awards in recognition of the fantastic support they
give.”
