JB has joined our collective training team as white force air-to-air/air-to- ground SME within 92 (R) Squadron at RAF Waddington.
JB joined the RAF in 1997 serving as a Navigator initially on the Tornado F3 on 25(F) Sqn based at RAF Leeming during which he regularly deployed to Operation SOUTHERN WATCH (Iraq), the Falkland Islands on 1435 Flight and multiple international exercises including Red Flag. He then moved north to serve on 43(F) Sqn operating from RAF Leuchars.
With the future of the Tornado F3 slowly drawing to a close, in 2007 JB converted to the air-to-ground role on the Tornado GR4 and was posted to II(AC) Sqn at RAF Marham. During this time he again saw multiple deployments, mainly on operations in support of Op TELIC (Iraq) and Op HERRICK (Afghanistan).
After a short ground tour as the offensive weapons specialist at the Air Warfare School, JB returned to the GR4 in 2012 as 4 ship lead and EWI on 31, and flight commander on II(AC) and latterly 12(B) Sqns with numerous operational deployments to Op HERRICK and Op SHADER (Iraq and Syria).
Having amassed over 2800 fast jet flying hours including over 200 Operational missions, JB’s final RAF posting was spent serving within NATO HQ Air Command at Ramstein Airbase in Germany.
On return to the UK, JB left the service to become an electronic warfare operator with Cobham Special Mission delivering defence operational training to UK and overseas customers.
JB lives in Lincolnshire with his wife Hannah and their children Ted and Millie. When not spending his spare time being exercised by his young family, and where time and remaining energy allows JB enjoys Cycling, running and winter sports.
Welcome to the Inzpire family, JB!
