We were asked to mentor helicopter, flight simulator and engineering instructors and provide instruction on the latest Methods of Instruction techniques at their international flying training academies in Italy and the USA.
Starting from first principles we conducted a training needs analysis to ensure that we covered all of the requirements of the customer as well as ensuring that our courses conformed to both EASA as well as FAA standards. Subsequently we wrote all of the modules that encompassed a mix of all of the media used and anticipated at the training academies and included an entertaining and varied mix of tutorials, training notes and practical exercises. We then set about rehearsing, refining and rehearsing again the delivery of all the course content before sending everything to both European as well as American aviation regulatory bodies to ensure that were totally compliant with their standards and consequently received notifications of their approval.
Each course was a working week long in duration and we were pleased to be invited to deliver at the flying training academies in Sesto Calende, Italy as well in Whippany, New Jersey in the USA. The feedback on all of the courses was outstanding not only because of the engaging content but also the delivery style where we embraced the already outstanding levels of experience of the attendees and took a mentoring and coaching approach rather than a formal teaching style.
This was our first international contract as well as being the first contract for our new Helicopter Services Division and taught us much about dealing with multi-national customers. The courseware remains refreshed and updated and is retained as an available course in the Inzpire Training Academy.
