The Role

The Inzpire Ltd Mission Systems team designs, develops and delivers some of the world’s most advanced aviation mission planning, mission management and Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) systems from within our office in Lincoln.  As a result of our continued success and business expansion we are delighted to offer an opportunity for a Functional Safety Engineering to join our award-winning team to support the on-going development of our bespoke mission systems.

Working directly for the Safety and Security Technical Authority the main duties of the role will include:

• Conducting safety analysis on Company-designed mission support systems, including Mission Planning Systems and tablet-based obstacle warning, navigation and EFB products
• Producing System Hazard Analysis Reports and System Safety Assessment Reports
• Supporting the on-going maintenance, control and configuration management of all documentation and records relating to the Mission Systems’ Safety Management System
• Assisting with non-safety engineering tasks including the testing of production systems and assisting Field Support Representatives
• Assisting project support teams through troubleshooting system issues
• Undertaking department project activities and generally supporting Mission Systems’ goals and activities

The Person

You will have experience in safety-critical systems engineering and must be motivated by the challenge of analysing complex systems in order to identify and control safety risk.  As a member of a small highly-skilled team, the responsibilities of the role will necessarily be broad and varied and you should be prepared to undertake a comprehensive range of activities that may, at times, fall outside of your specialist field.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a proactive individual with a ‘can do attitude’ who can work with only minimal supervision and who is not afraid to contribute their own suggestions and ideas for business improvement
• Possess excellent attention to detail and have the discipline to consistently produce high-quality output whilst conforming to the principles of applicable standards
• Have an inquisitive/analytical mind, be able to research issues independently and suggest pragmatic, business-focused solutions
• Demonstrate a desire to develop professionally within our growing business

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• A degree in an engineering subject (Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Software Engineering) or demonstrable equivalent experience in this field
• Evidence of sufficient safety-related engineering experience

Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks; qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.

Location

The post is primarily based in Lincoln but may require the successful candidate to travel occasionally to other sites within the UK, a Full UK Drivers Licence or the ability to travel extensively throughout the UK is therefore essential.
