As Inzpire look forward to the start of the DSALT2 contract on 1 April 15, personnel from the Air Battlespace Training Centre (ABTC) at RAF Waddington have been celebrating the success of one of their colleagues during the preceding contract.
DSALT1 ran from Jan 09 – Mar 15, and Jonathan ‘JB’ Belcher worked the entire contract without a single day off due to illness. ISR Instructor JB prepared and delivered all of the Army’s ISR inputs during DSALT1, adding the deep immersion element which made the exercises so successful.
JB is also an AWACS and Datalinks expert and has been pivotal in both of these roles during the air-based training elements of the contract. He will continue to work on the DSALT2 contract, providing his expertise once more to ensure the success of the exercise.
During DSALT1, an estimated 3500 Army personnel have been trained in the Air Battlespace Training Centre, with 5000 personnel in total passing through its doors for training purposes.
The image shows JB receiving a bottle of his favourite brandy in recognition of his dediction to the contract. He receives the gift from Paul Bolton, Operations Manager of the ABTC.
