This was an ambitious plan and saw Inzpire competing head-to-head with some of the Goliaths of the defence industry.
Roll forward 3 months and Inzpire was awarded the contract. Roll forward another 10 months to early February 2016, and the MoD had just declared Initial Operating Capability.
But how did we do it? How did we compete with the Goliaths of the defence industry and win? Simple answer: great people developing great products delivering great value. In previous blogs Larry, our Chief Engineer, and Jake, our Chief Software Architect and Head of Research and Development, explained how we integrate operators and engineers throughout our customer-focussed development process. We can only do this with the very best people. We need people who can combine imagination and innovation, passion and precision, experience and enthusiasm. Inzpire is proud of its military heritage and passionate about its engineering excellence.
Our Puma journey has been a massive challenge for the Team, but hugely fulfilling at the same time. There have been some very long days and very late nights but always a sense that we were getting there, together. And with a smile on our faces (most of the time). We have learnt a huge amount too: I now know that software developers are fuelled by chicken nuggets, but systems engineers prefer pizza.
So what’s next? We will complete the Puma programme driving forward our Mission Support System development – we have a vision of ‘one system, all platforms’. Ambitious thinking you might argue, but then so was our plan to win the competition for Puma back in 2014. In parallel, we will add further capabilities to our ever growing GECO Land System, providing lifesaving situational awareness to dismounted soldiers whilst on the battlefield. We will continue to add capabilities to our award winning, in cockpit man-machine multiplier that is the GECO Air System. Finally, we will continue to listen to our Customers and react to meet their needs: they are the reason why we are here today and they are the key to our future.
So if you would like to be part of a creative, passionate, highly skilled and experienced team, ready and willing to work alongside the Goliaths, we’d love to hear from you!
