Jason has joined our collective training division as an Air C2/data link subject matter expert.
Jason joined the RAF in 1989 as an Aerospace Systems Operator (ASOp). Following basic ASOp training, he was posted to RAF Boulmer where he was employed in the control and reporting Centre (CRC). During this tour he was deployed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Op GRANBY where he worked in the air headquarters.
In 1992 Jason was posted to the Systems Development Centre at RAF Bentley Priory where he worked on the Data Link software team. During this tour he was detached to Mount Kent in the Falkland Islands as a Radar Operator.
In 1996, he was posted to the CRC at RAF Neatishead, where he was employed initially as an instructor and subsequently as an identification officer. In 2000 Jason was selected for flying duties and posted to RAF Waddington to serve as a surveillance operator on the E-3D Sentry aircraft. He was subsequently selected for upgrade to the link manager role in 2004 and served on both 8 and 54 Sqns as a qualified rear crew instructor (QRI) and airborne evaluator.
In 2012 Jason was posted down the road from Waddington to OACTU at RAFC Cranwell as a deputy flight commander on initial officer training.
Upon promotion to warrant officer in 2013, Jason was posted back to the E-3D component at RAF Waddington, serving as a data link manager on 8 Sqn.
In 2015, Jason was commissioned under the commissioned warrant officer scheme and posted back to the E-3D component in the role of surveillance controller. In his final year in the RAF, Jason was posted to 54 Squadron where he was the surveillance leader, SC QRI and SC airborne evaluator.
During his time on the Sentry E-3D, he deployed on numerous Operations including Op VERITAS, Op TELIC, Op UNIFIED PROTECTOR and Op SHADER, achieving over 4000 hrs on type.
Jason is married to Simone and has twin boys aged 17. His main interest/obsession is road cycling, and he recently qualified as a cycle mechanic. He is also a qualified rugby union coach and has been coaching at Lincoln Rugby Football Club for over 13 years and is currently the Head coach for the Colts squad.
