Roger has joined our intelligence, cyber and counter-terrorism division as a Defence Intelligence Training Development & Delivery SME.
Roger joined the British Army as a Gunner weapons operator in the Royal Artillery in 1992 and following basic and trade training was posted to Thorney Island, Hampshire as an air defence missile operator. Whilst there he deployed to Northern Ireland twice; meeting Dr Ian Paisley on the way back from a trip to the Bushmills distillery being the highlight of one tour! Whilst based on Thorney Island Roger twice deployed to Cyprus in support of the UN culminating in a role in troop welfare and stores (in short, the Troop barman).
Instead of pursuing
a career as a publican upon his return from sunnier climes, Roger transferred
to the Intelligence Corps in 2004 and embarked on a change of Army career direction.
Having fulfilled a number of general roles within the Int Corps, including
operational deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan he spent the last 8 years of
his Army career as an Imagery Analyst. Roger left the Army in 2018 and
joins Inzpire from a civil service role with the Department for International
Development as their Facilities Services
Manager.
Roger is in a long term relationship with Lindsy and they are
the proud parents to a year old French bulldog named Hugo (named after
Tottenham captain, Hugo Lloris). Roger is a dedicated season ticket holder at
Tottenham Hotspur FC, which for most of his life has been far more pain than
pleasure. He has ridden motorbikes for most of his adult life and
currently owns Ruby (named after Ruby Tuesday by the Rolling Stones), a
Ducati Monster 1200s. Having learned to ski and then snowboard in
the Army, winter sports are a big part of his life. He currently prefers to
snowboard, but plans to return to skis when the knees have had enough of the
board!
A chef before joining the Army, Roger still enjoys all aspects of
cooking; except pastry, which is always purchased in the ready roll format.
Welcome to Inzpire, Roger!
