It's our pleasure to welcome Phil Crebbin to Inzpire as a senior cyber and communications technology consultant, following 30 years in the Royal Air Force.
Phil joined the RAF in 1990 as an aircraft electrician working on Tornado, Wessex and Puma aircraft. Successfully commissioning into the communications engineering branch in 2003, Phil’s early service saw him deliver specialist radar support (Watchman, T93 and T101) and co-ordinating contractor delivered communications and information systems (CIS) services in Iraq. This was followed by a tour in Joint Service Signals Unit (Cyprus) at Episkopi and then in HQ Air Command as the operational tasking authority for the RAF’s deployable CIS capability.
Undertaking a tour in Joint Force CIS in Bastion, he delivered infrastructure capability across the Afghanistan Theatre, that included enabling improved MRI scanner data sharing services to Bastion hospital. Phil then briefly served as a military liaison officer within the Government Communications Headquarters before returning to HQ Air Command, where he was the authority for all the RAF’s Crypto. Moving to the NATO Communications Information Agency in SHAPE, he was accountable for NATO’s deployable CIS and delivered a new multi-million-euro deployable CIS capability. He also established a supporting CIS training facility in the NATO CIS training school.
Upon returning to the UK, Phil commanded 1 (ES) Squadron, 90 Signals Unit, delivering a broad portfolio of CIS services and capabilities, before undertaking a tour on the UK Joint Force Air Component, leading Air C2 CIS planning, interoperability, and enablement. The highlight of which was leading a UK deployment that successfully federated a new MOD CIS capability to NATO systems; an essential requirement in achieving NATO Reaction Force Certification. Phil closed his RAF career as the CIS lead in Joint Helicopter Command where he successfully supported integration with Blue Light Services to share Helicopter Landing Sites’ data during COVID-19.
After two years spent enjoying some travel, family time and renovating his family home, Phil is excited to be bringing his extensive experience to Inzpire.
Phil is married to Cath (a clinical carer to students in a specialist college) and has two children who he is actively encouraging to fly the nest. Phil is Chairman of the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) Harrogate and District Branch and enjoys travelling, golf, fitness, and cooking.
