Hutch has joined our Integrated Sensors & Systems Division, where he will be working within our Mission Data Analysis Team.
Hutch joined the RAF in February 1997 as an Avionics Engineering Technician. On completion of initial technician training, his first tour was on 20(R) Sqn Harrier operational conversion unit where, along with his primary duties, he enjoyed being part of the display team.
After further technician training, he was posted to 5(AC) Sqn and then 25(F) Sqn Tornado F3s. This is where the majority of his fast jet experience was gained; notably maintaining the Foxhunter radar and the Radar Homing and Warning Receiver. Hutch completed multiple operational tours during his time on F3s along with many overseas and domestic detachments.
After a short tour at RAF Lyneham on the Hercules maintenance Lean Team, Hutch moved to the Air Warfare Centre at RAF Waddington. He spent 6 years as part of Helicopters Flight producing EW support and Mission Data for the Apache, Sea King and Merlin platforms.
Hutch’s last tour was in the RAF at the Typhoon Training Facility where he instructed the Typhoon Avionics Q Course to fellow engineers as well as management courses and Defensive Aid Sub-System (DASS) refrigerant courses.
In his spare time, Hutch enjoy keeping fit by regularly attending the gym and playing football. He represents RAF Coningsby in the first Service/Civilian over 35s ‘Veterans’ team. Hutch also coaches football and manages an under 9s football team. He is married to Michelle and has two children, Ben aged 8 and Amalie aged 5.
