Jim has over 27 years of military aviation experience including command of 31 Squadron. His 2000 hours of air to ground Tornado GR1 and GR4 experience as a Qualified Weapons Instructor comprise operations from the Balkans to Afghanistan, through where 70% of his hours were flown. Additionally he participated in, and led on, over 25 major overseas multi-national exercises, and conducted 5 operational tours in Combined Air Operations Centres. During his MoD Main Building time as the customer he successfully delivered TLAM block IV, PWIV, Storm Shadow, Brimstone, Dual Mode Brimstone, and RAPTOR into operational service, wrote the User Requirement Document for SPEAR, and negotiated the award of the Team Complex Weapons construct and contract.
Jim put his Masters Degree in Military Strategy to good use by authoring the successfully executed Air Strategy for the coalition withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the Air-Land Integration Strategy for the Afghanistan National Security Forces. In his last RAF role as the Operational Chief of Staff for the RAF’s Air Warfare Centre, he implemented an Integrated Mission Support System, which is still extant and has seen an increase in productivity of over 300% in consolidated output.
As a Chartered Manager Jim is a fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, and he combines his continued deep-seated attachment to the military with industry-leading practise to ensure those on the front-line of defence get the best support available.
Away from work Jim spends his time with his wife and daughter, renovating their ‘forever home,’ travelling, or finding any excuse he can to watch England play rugby at Twickenham.
