After joining the RAF Jonny was posted on exchange to the Army Air Corps to train as a helicopter pilot, subsequently completing a tour on the Army’s Special Forces Squadron and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his work. Returning to the RAF to fly Chinook helicopters, he deployed on five tours of Iraq and in 2006 was promoted to Squadron Leader, completing a staff tour as the Chief of Staff of the Support Helicopter HQ at RAF Odiham. He completed five operational tours in Afghanistan as a flight commander and, on promotion to Wing Commander, was posted to head the Operations and Special Forces cell at the Joint Helicopter Command where he was responsible to Commander Joint Helicopter Command for the planning and deployment of contingent and discrete operations.
Jonny left the RAF in 2013 subsequently advising multinationals, smaller aviation companies and African governments on maximising procurement and operational matters relating to air and aviation operations. He started working with Inzpire as an Associate in 2013, working on GECO training and in the ABTC as a Helicopter SME, before taking over as Head of Helicopter Services in 2014. Jonny was promoted to Deputy Chief Operating Officer in November 2017.
