The aim of this course is to train TACPs in the responsibilities required in their roles. The students will gain knowledge in advanced battlespace management procedures at divisional level to battle group operations within a joint fires cell and down to JTAC management.
This is achieved by teaching students the skills required to request, plan, brief and on occasion execute close air support operations. Students will develop knowledge of asset management for tactical air direction, JTAC coordination and tactical air communications utilising beyond-line-of-sight digital systems.
To enhance student learning, this course has been built around fully immersive scenarios. During these scenarios students will be required to plan their missions with close air support in mind, advising the mission commander on factors that will aid in achieving the mission aims such as coordinating JTACs, requesting the required air assets and coordinating battlespace management with other agencies. The course will cover joint mission essential task list areas and on completion the participating organisation will be ready to operate effectively as a TACP.
The course is aimed at individuals with pre-existing operational or mission-ready fire support exposure.
