The RAF Corporate Games 2019 Squad took part in multiple badminton disciplines over the weekend of 2-4th Aug including Men’s/Ladies Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. The Corporate Games has been staged successfully across the world since 1988 and is a great opportunity to meet new people, foster strong working relations, develop team work, and promote the brand name and recognition. 14 members of the RAF squad, and Inzpire’s own Craig Emslie, entered against friendly yet tough competition from businesses, small and large, from all across Europe.
The weekend began with two RAF players making it to the semi-finals Open, and another two facing off in the over 30’s men’s singles final early on the Friday. Saturday kicked off the men’s doubles and with well over 200 competitors in the competition alone, entering it was a fast paced day barely having time to recover from one match to the next. Inzpire’s Craig Emslie and partner Flt Lt Barry Garnham, and 3 other RAF men’s pairings, fought off stiff opposition to make it through the group stages to the last 16. Working well as a partnership, despite never playing a competitive game together, Craig and Barry’s fighting spirit took them to the final of the Men’s Doubles and securing a well-deserved 2nd place.
Other rankings included an RAF 1st and 2nd in the over 30’s men’s singles, and a 2nd place in the Open Men’s Singles.
Everyone played very well against numerous companies including Vodafone, Lloyds Banking Group, and Safran, who we have all come to form friendships through this event.
