Platform Training Services OBU
Last but certainly not least, let me introduce the fourth and final operational business unit within Inzpire’s new organisational structure.
Platform Training Services (PTS) in actual fact covers a broad range of areas and comprises of 3 gusting 4 divisions: Mission Training Devices, Human Factors and Safety, Helicopter Services and Fixed Wing Services.
On first glance it may seem an unusual combination which has been brought together, however on looking more closely the synergies can easily be seen and in actual fact the merging together of these contrasting areas, I believe, strengthens the value of each and more importantly provides the opportunity for new and exciting products and services with the ability for diversification.
I guess the first observation would be that the business unit comprises of both products and services. One of Inzpire’s greatest strategic assets is the depth of knowledge, expertise and experience across the aviation domain which is held within the company’s virtual vault. It is this which has inspired and driven the development of Inzpire’s Mission Training Devices (MTD) Division. The belief that training can be conducted efficiently and effectively on systems which don’t cost the earth and on occasion may not need to precisely physically resemble whatever the system or hardware is the student is training on. Although MTD - Targeted Fidelity Simulator (TFS) in its previous guise - has been around for a couple of years, it continues to evolve with the team seeking new, exciting and innovative ways to practically support training delivery.

Alongside MTD sits the eldest of the PTS divisions; Human Factors and Safety has been part of Inzpire nearly as long as the company has been around providing exceptional human factors and human performance training to the UK military. Furthermore, HFS delivers training courses outside of the defence industry for a wide variety of customers including foreign air forces, civil aviation, motor racing teams including Formula 1, The NHS, the oil and gas industry, steel industry, construction firms, school teachers …. the list is long.
Helicopter Services Division continues to deliver live flying and simulator training to units within Joint Helicopter Command. The Inzpire Civilian Qualified Helicopter Instructors support the Apache AH1 and Wildcat conversion to type and conversion to role courses for the Army Air Corps whilst the simulator instructors deliver synthetic training on the Chinook Mk6 simulator at RAF Odiham. Helicopter Services also possesses a team of Helicopter Tactics Instructors providing support to the European Defence Agency Helicopter Programme. Helicopter Services as a whole deliver the spectrum of rotary aviation instruction ranging from basic handling techniques, navigation, night flying through to the operational aspects including helicopter tactics, night pairs formation and electronic warfare.

Finally, Fixed Wing Services is a division is in the process of being born so watch this space.
All the divisions within the OBU are interconnected in terms of what they deliver with each supporting the other. Importantly the collaboration is not limited to the business unit, with the divisions working on a number of projects across the company.
There are exciting times ahead for PTS OBU with the aim for growth, diversification and innovation over the next few years. I hope this introduction has provided a little background information but of course if anything is of interest, further detail can be found throughout the website, or simply get in touch.
