Inzpire’s Space Division – who are we?
Our Space Division is made up of a number of ex-military experts, with over 6000 flying hours, 90 years’ of armed forces service, and 25 years’ military space experience between us.
Our space experience includes supporting UK operations and working alongside counterparts within US Space Command and US Central Command, ensuring that space-based assets were successfully integrated into military operations all over the world.
Combined with Inzpire’s Collective Training Division, we have been supporting the UK Ministry of Defence for over a decade, facilitating high-level training including that for multi-domain operations integration.
With all that experience behind us, we are perfectly placed to deliver customer-focused, space-based training to both military and civilian organisations.
We can help a range of organisations with learning more about the space domain
Practical space training for the military
Recently, we were involved in the delivery Exercise COBRA WARRIOR; a large, UK-based, multi-national military exercise which combines training for air, land, maritime, cyber and space assets from around the world.
COBRA WARRIOR is the Royal Air Force’s capstone event and marks the culmination of the Qualified Weapons Instructor courses.
The annual event, run by Royal Air Force and Inzpire personnel embedded within 92 Sqn at RAF Waddington, combines weapons instructor courses and personnel from front-line units and provides with a valuable opportunity to hone their warfighting skills alongside our allies.
For Exercise COBRA WARRIOR 22-2 we provided subject matter and training expertise to the UK Space Command’s Qualified Space Instructor Course, which gave us the opportunity to demonstrate our practical training capability in a multi-domain arena.
The Space Command Qualified Space Instructor Course develops the skills of military space operators from across the Royal Air Force, British Army and Royal Navy. The course supplies students with all of the skills and knowledge they need before they start roles in the space domain, ensuring they have a detailed knowledge of space, its capability areas and operational application.
Joining our colleagues from the company’s Collective Training Division we were embedded within 92 Squadron at RAF Waddington to plan, integrate and deliver a number of space and non-kinetic effects - subtle, disruptive effects that may limit equipment from working properly - during the exercise.
To support the course, we developed the training ‘toolbox’, which involved us creating a selection of military capabilities the students could use during each mission. This ensured that students could contribute to the overall mission commander’s objectives.
We also used our expertise in operational space training to ensure that students’ skills would be put to the test by developing a range of scenarios which gradually increased in difficulty.
In total, we devoted over 400 hours to the development and delivery of the Qualified Space Instructor Course as part of COBRA WARRIOR 22-2 on behalf of the Air and Space Warfare Centre and UK Space Command.

Theory-based space training courses for civil and military sectors
The importance of space continues to grow. Its impact on our everyday life is crucial; although you might not always be aware of it.
Without satellites and their payloads, and without an array of other space capabilities, we would not have GPS. Without GPS, mobile phone towers would struggle to route your calls. Cash point machines would not work as they use GPS for financial transactions; electricity grids use it to send electricity to your house.
Without space capabilities, there would be less accurate weather predictions; there would be no Sky TV. The military as we know it would struggle to function due to its dependence on GPS, satellite communications, missile warning systems, environmental monitoring and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities – all of which rely on space-based capabilities.
In essence, any disruption to, or exploitation of vulnerabilities associated with space systems could have severe consequences on all of our lives.
Growth of the UK space sector and the rapid proliferation of space technologies and services have led to the development of commercial products that are increasingly advanced and able to contribute directly to UK security and resilience. For example, sometime in 2022 it is hoped that we will see British spaceports launching satellites in to orbit for the first time. For a more international example of how commercial space products have made a huge difference, just look at how Elon Musk’s Starlink system has enabled internet connectivity in Ukraine.
The strategic importance of space, acting as the backbone of the UK economy, has meant it is now defined as part of the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure and as Defence’s fifth operational domain. Against this strategically important backdrop, Inzpire’s Space Division is at the forefront of addressing training needs for the UK space domain across government – we very recently completed the UK Space Command Defence Workforce Training Needs Analysis.
However, far from just being applicable to a military audience, the space courses available through our Training Academy are also suitable for cross-government departments and commercial enterprises. Anyone who studies on our courses will leave with an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of space-based and space-enabled systems, and how these contribute to defence and security missions and tasks and their associated links to civilian sectors.
These courses provide military audiences, cross-government departments and commercial enterprises with an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of space-based and space-enabled systems. Students on these courses will find out about how these systems contribute to defence and security missions and tasks, and their associated linkage to civilian sectors.
Our range of trainng courses provides military audiences, cross-government departments and commercial enterprises with an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of space-based and space-enabled systems.
Our Space Operations courses provide foundational (one-day) and advanced (one-week) space training and are presented by ex-military space operators. The courses are designed for personnel seeking a greater awareness and understanding of the use of space-based and space-enabled capabilities and how they contribute to delivery of the goals and themes detailed in the National and Defence Space Strategies.
Our training curriculums will also highlight how vulnerable some of these space capabilities are, and teach students to be both aware of the vulnerabilities and plan for contingencies. What would you do with no mobile phone, Sky TV, bank cards or any of the military capabilities that are enabled by satellites and their payloads? Don’t let that risk become a reality for your business – find out how to mitigate and plan for these risks by studying with us!
