In less than a month, 8 members of Inzpire will be undertaking a one-day, 110 mile cycle ride around the rolling hills of Rutland, Leicestershire and southern Lincolnshire as part of a RAF Association supported team aiming to conquer the Rutland Border Epique cycle sportive. RAFA hope to raise in excess of £10,000 from this gruelling event which forms part of the celebrations to mark the RAF’s 100th Anniversary. Our images show Rich Havercroft and Tineke Brooks who warmed up for the June event by completing the 65 mile route at the Lincoln Grand Prix Sportive last weekend. Joining Rich and Tin in Rutland will be Inzpire’s Jessica Wood, Jonny Priest, Paul Bolton, Dan Simmons, Mike Lofts and Steven Pook.
Rich commented: “As well as being a really enjoyable day out, taking part in the Lincoln Sportive was a useful opportunity to test out a few ideas about how to tackle what will be by far the longest day of cycling I have ever attempted. As ever with these type of endurance events, half the challenge is trying to find the time to balance work and family commitments with training, and I’m not as prepared as I’d like, but the event last weekend highlighted that riding in the company of such amazing colleagues will help immensely. I’m still expecting that 110 miles of cycling is going to hurt (a lot) though!”
The team have set up a shared fundraising page and would be delighted if friends and colleagues would sponsor them to help enable RAFA to continue to support the RAF’s family of yesterday, today and tomorrow in times of need. The charity page can be accessed here.
