We’re delighted to welcome Erica Ravenscroft to our team as a TAC C2 subject matter expert.
A little later to service life than some, Erica joined the Royal Air Force at 25-years old.
Growing up in the north east of Scotland, she went on to study at Aberdeen University and graduated with Joint Honours in French and German Language and Literature. Upon graduating, she spent time working in London in the insurance and actuarial sector before joining the RAF in 2016 as an aerospace battle manager.
Erica was streamed for controller training, and she qualified as a weapons controller at RAF Boulmer in short order and received the IBM Controller of the Year award. As part of her first posting at RAF Boulmer in the now 19 Squadron, Erica completed a tour in the Middle East working with host nations and coalition forces to conduct operations in the area, before returning to the UK to conduct Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) duties and control routine flying sorties.
Her next posting at RAF Boulmer was to 20 Sqn where she qualified as an instructor working as part of the team to deliver training to new weapons controllers in the live and synthetic environment. She then took on the role of Officer Commanding Weapons Training Section and was responsible for the conduct of Phase 2 weapons training at Boulmer, and for the course development to introduce more complex and relevant training into the syllabus.
After completing her tour in 20 Sqn, Erica returned to 19 Sqn and quickly qualified as a fighter allocator to supervise the weapons team conducting QRA operations and to oversee routine flying training.
Erica now lives in Lincolnshire with her husband, Jonathan, and their two very fat cats, Ziggy and Elvis. In her free time, she likes to get creative in the kitchen trying out new recipes, which necessitates that she spends time in the gym. She is also a huge Harry Potter fan, and it would be her specialist subject if she were brave enough to take part in Mastermind.
Great to have you in the team, Erica!
