This course aims to introduce students to the world of infrared through the understanding of readily accessible concepts. Through the study of theory and practical weapon systems, the course allows participants to take the first steps towards understanding fundamental infrared concepts.
The infrared domain of the electro-magnetic spectrum encompasses aircraft emission, infrared tracking mechanisms and tactical weapon systems, all of which are explored on this course. Upon completion, graduates will have a thorough understanding of infrared and the effect it has on military principles.
This course is primarily aimed at beginners and is designed to progress those with a limited understanding of infrared up to an intermediate level. This course contains introductory and moderately advanced academic material, therefore it is also suitable as a refresher for the seasoned electronic warfare instructor or tactics instructor.
