Inzpire Limited (Inzpire) has been crowned Employer of the Year at the British Ex-Forces in Business Awards 2023.
In the world's largest celebration of military veterans in second careers, Inzpire was recognised for its unwavering commitment to the ex-forces community, marking it as one of the best employers of service leavers in the UK.
Shortlisted among big names like Amazon, Boeing and several NHS Trusts, an independent panel of business leaders judged that Inzpire best demonstrated an outstanding desire to attract, retain and champion ex-forces personnel.
Inzpire employees are presented with the Employer of the Year award by Vice Admiral Phil Hally, Chief of Defence People, and host Jacqui Oatley MBE.
Companies were assessed on their efforts to recruit ex-forces personnel, aid them in their resettlement and help them grow through the organisation, as well as examples of recognising and promoting the skills of military service leavers and supporting reservists.
Inzpire is proud to say that military heritage runs deep within its DNA. With the armed forces as its core customer and 80% of its 300-plus employees coming from a military background, it is no surprise the company is so dedicated to supporting the ex-forces community.
Leaving military service can be a major step for individuals, so Inzpire frequently speaks with those considering leaving the forces to provide informal and impartial advice about their options.
Alongside a guaranteed interview scheme for service leavers, reservists and military partners who meet all advertised requirements, the company provides civilian workplace attachments, to allow serving personnel experience of a commercial environment before embarking on the next stage of their career.
Inzpire understands that providing ex-forces staff with the opportunity to thrive professionally and achieve advancement is essential. It not only works hard to ensure colleagues have the appropriate skills and competences for their roles but, also aims to provide varied and rewarding work opportunities for individuals to grow into. Many of Inzpire’s employees inevitably wish to continue serving as reservists, so it provides an extra 15 days paid leave each year to conduct reserves duties.
Policies such as these, and more, have led to the company’s esteemed reputation and success at the Ex-Forces in Business Awards.
Inzpire’s People Director, Rich Havercroft said: “We know ex-forces employees and their skills, experience and dedication are critical to our continued success. The award of Employer of the Year is amazing recognition of our approach and of everything our ex-forces staff contribute to Inzpire.”
Founded in 2017 by Disruptive Media Group, the Ex-Forces in Business Awards celebrates the achievements of veterans in the wider workforce and promotes the strong synergies between military values and business excellence. The ceremony itself took place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 29 June, with TV presenter and broadcaster Jacqui Oatley MBE hosting the event to over 1,100 business and military leaders.
Judging the awards were business leaders from organisations including, EY, Irwin Mitchell, Knight Frank, Lloyds Banking Group, MBDA, the Ministry of Defence, Serco and Provident Financial Group.
