GECO MSS does just this - seamlessly supporting planning, rehearsal, briefing, airborne and debriefing phases of the mission, and recently achieved Final Operational Capability with its launch customer, the UK Joint Helicopter Command’s (JHC) Puma Force.
Furthermore, GECO MSS provides one system for the entire Force. Its versatile and flexible design means that the system can be easily adapted for use by all platform types, both fixed wing and rotary. This approach brings unmatched interoperability between platform types as well as reducing training and support requirements for multiple systems.
GECO MSS truly represents the next generation of mission support systems. The ground-based mission planning element features a slick, intuitive user interface and enables rapid planning and seamless integration of aeronautical, meteorological, geospatial and platform performance data into the plan. The system offers a compelling range of 2 and 3D views and rehearsal options to ensure that aircrew go to their aircraft with a better understanding of critical parts of their mission.
Once the plan is complete, GECO MSS supports the airborne mission through the use of tablet PC-based systems or by loading the aircraft’s own avionics system, or indeed both. As many current avionics systems are not able to process and display the vast amount of mission-specific data that is part of the modern-day mission, the addition of a tablet PC-based system provides a compelling means of managing and exploiting this data with benefits of increased situational awareness and improved safety.
GECO MSS uses best-of-breed commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware technology to reduce cost and offer outstanding value for money to customers. GECO software can be hosted on all major operating systems, so we are able to offer a wide range of hardware types to suit all budgets and all physical, environmental, safety and security requirements.
Most recently, we have introduced our GECO World concept - an application programming interface which allows OEMs and system integrators to easily and rapidly integrate other hardware elements with GECO and to capitalise on its advanced processing and display capabilities. We are currently working with a number of major OEMs to combine cutting-edge sensor outputs with the GECO system through GECO World.
Jonny Smith, Head of Inzpire’s Mission Systems Group, said, “GECO MSS has really gone from strength to strength. Since its introduction with the Puma Force last year, we’ve been thrilled to witness its success in both training missions and when deployed on operations. We are continuing to work with Joint Helicopter Command to understand how we can best continue to develop the system. We’re really excited about the latest developments, which ensure the place of MSS as a crucial element of the mission.
MSS is an incredibly adaptable and flexible system, which can be quickly upgraded to capitalise on the latest innovations in relevant technology. This makes the system an affordable and sensible long-term option for customers looking for a mission support system that works with whichever aircraft they use.”
We will showcase the enhanced operational features and benefits of GECO MSS at DSEI 2017. Features on display will include:
Visit us on stand S9-244 throughout DSEI, held at ExCeL, London from 12-15 September to experience the latest GECO MSS technology.
