As space plays an increasingly vital role across military operations, the UK Ministry of Defence identified a growing demand for space training and education at all levels. Following the establishment of UK Space Command in April 2021, the training requirements for the military space workforce needed to be fully understood.
The MOD engaged Inzpire, a trusted partner with expertise in developing innovative training solutions and a team of experienced space professionals. Our specialist training consultants conducted a thorough training needs analysis using the principles of JSP 822 Defence Systems Approach to Training to meet the specific requirements of UK Space Command.
This process highlighted the need for an updated foundation-level space education course that would incorporate modern interactive online learning methods. As a result, we created a new Foundation Space Operations Course - a contemporary programme designed for online delivery via the Defence Learning Environment. The course aims to provide a solid grounding in space concepts, systems and operations for personnel across all UK military services.
Since its launch, the Foundation Space Operations course has been successfully rolled out across the UK Armed Forces. By making this foundational training more accessible online, the MOD has equipped a broad range of military personnel with essential space knowledge.
