Working with the Royal Air Force and subcontracted by Lockheed Martin UK, Inzpire plays a vital role in ensuring Chinook crews are mission ready and qualified for deployment.
hours of synthetic training delivered
As the supplier of a state-of-the-art synthetic training system for the RAF's Chinook Mk6 helicopter force at RAF Odiham, Lockheed Martin UK needed a training provider with deep expertise operating the Chinook Mk6 to help run the facility and support the Chinook crew’s synthetic training.
A key requirement was sourcing qualified instructors, with operational experience on the Chinook, to design, develop and deliver training that accurately reflected the aircraft's roles and environments. Lockheed Martin UK also required technical maintenance support for the complex hardware and software involved.
Since 2018, we have been subcontracted to provide the solution using our team of former RAF Chinook aircrew instructors with over 33,000 hours of combined flying experience. Using their extensive operational expertise, our team generates training scenarios that accurately mirror frontline conditions - from general handling to multi-aircraft composite air operations against simulated threats.
Our instructors create and deliver varied serials covering:
Mission qualification training to whole crews
Mandatory currency training to maintain proficiency
Specialised training including environmental ops, evasion tactics, electronic warfare
Emergency procedures and decision-making under pressure
Mission training with multi-aircraft formation exercises
We also partner with Operational Solutions Ltd to supply maintenance technicians responsible for servicing and repairing the simulators and system hardware developed and maintained by Lockheed Martin UK.
This integrated solution combines Inzpire's specialised expertise in Chinook operations and training with Lockheed Martin UK’s cutting-edge technical capabilities. It allows Lockheed Martin to focus on system delivery while utilising highly experienced former aircrews to run the training facility.
By providing experienced instructors and maintenance personnel, we reduce overall programme risk and supplement Lockheed Martin UK's workforce. This means the RAF receives a high-quality training solution precisely tailored to prepare Chinook aircrews for deployment.
The facility has achieved over 3000 training sorties, resulting in over 10,000 hours of synthetic training delivered.
The synthetic training has proven invaluable not just for basic qualification, but also allowing aircrews to rehearse complex mission sets, practise emergency procedures, and sharpen decision-making skills in a risk-free environment. Aircraft engineers also utilise the simulators for systems and avionics training.
What truly sets the Inzpire team apart is its ability to translate real-world expertise into tailored synthetic training scenarios, from foundational emergency handling procedures to complex Composite Air Operations. The instructors’ attention to detail and integration with the team improves crew capability and confidence, pushing personnel to elevate decision-making, situational awareness and operational performance. Each synthetic sortie delivers maximum value to enhance operational readiness across the force.”
