Inzpire has showcased the successful integration of its accredited, mixed-reality Compact Agile Simulation Equipment for joint terminal attack controllers (CASE JTAC) with Boeing Defence UK's synthetic collective training platform Arena.
The demonstration at the Air Land Integration Conference in Reading, UK last month highlighted both companies' commitment to delivering realistic and interoperable joint training and mission rehearsal capabilities in a synthetic environment.
The integrated demo featured a JTAC operator using the CASE JTAC simulator to communicate situational awareness and direct simulated close air support missions. Simultaneously, an aircraft was virtually flown within Arena's synthetic environment, receiving and executing the JTAC's instructions as part of the same overarching scenario.
This proof-of-concept marks a significant milestone for CASE JTAC by validating its ability to integrate seamlessly with larger, synthetic training systems compliant with Defence Modelling and Simulation Office standards, like Arena.
As the first UK, mixed-reality JTAC simulator accredited for all control types, this demonstration reinforces CASE JTAC's credibility as a comprehensive JTAC training solution fully interoperable with high-end platforms used by global military forces.
James Clarkson, CASE JTAC’s lead engineer, Inzpire said:
“CASE JTAC’s ability to connect seamlessly with other simulators dramatically enhances its value to our customers. Being able to show this in action alongside Boeing, showcasing the unclassified version of the most prolific collective training simulator in the UK today, perfectly demonstrates the capabilities of both systems together.”
Arena is the unclassified version of Gladiator, the Royal Air Force's (RAF) world-leading synthetic training system, which links synthetic training devices in a central hub at the Air Battlespace Training Centre, RAF Waddington.
The Arena environment was developed by Boeing Defence UK in collaboration with industry partners including ST Engineering Antycip, MAK Technologies, RTDynamics, CogSim Technologies, Calytrix Technologies and Pelican Mapping.
Mark Winston-Davies, chief programme engineer Collective Training, Boeing Defence UK said:
“This collaboration demonstrates the close integration of both Boeing’s and Inzpire’s product offering by combining the capabilities of both air and land simulation and highlighting the critical interplay between these two domains for our customers’ future missions."
As a cost-effective solution to live training, CASE JTAC harnesses the immersive capabilities of mixed-reality technology to blend real training aids with high-fidelity virtual battlespaces for a realistic training experience.
Approved for Types 1, 2 and 3 controls, the deployable, point-of-need simulator has been certified by the UK Ministry of Defence for competency and currency training of JTACs from all NATO member states.
