Project 'GHOST' Underway

During this year’s DSEI, Inzpire were delighted to be announced as one of the winners of the Agile Immersive Mission Training research competition and Innovation Challenge that had been run by the Defence Solutions Centre (DSC) in partnership with DSTL. The winners were announced by Philip Dunne, Defence Minister.

The Innovation Challenge was launched in March 2015 with the aim of encouraging the development of innovative defence products. The challenge is funded by the Ministry of Defence, and delivered through the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory’s Centre for Defence Enterprise in partnership with the DGP’s UK Defence Solutions Centre.

Upon being awarded the project, the Inzpire team got straight to work, with project ‘GHOST’ starting in earnest in October. Project ‘GHOST’, which stands for Graphically Hosted Objective Solution for Training, is a truly collaborative effort drawing expertise from across Inzpire. Key programming capability from our Mission Systems Group is combining with operational & training experience from within the Managed Services Group to deliver the project.

Phase 1 of the project will culminate in a concept capability demonstration at the end of March 2016. Should DSC choose to take the project further, then Phase 2 would see the nascent GHOST capability exploited within a real Defence training environment. In time, a fully operational GHOST capability will deliver better prepared force elements more effectively and has clear international marketability.

Once again Inzpire are delighted to be bringing our expertise to bear upon an opportunity to be innovative with the aim of delivering improvements to our Armed Forces capability.
