Sharing miles and memories in Bridlington

Across the weekend of 16th-18th May, a team from Inzpire embarked on a wellbeing weekend in Bridlington – covering nearly 22 miles along the scenic Flamborough Cliffs. Written by Al Hadfield, EDP Programme Manager, this blog recounts their adventures – from admiring seal colonies to pushing their limits on a high ropes course.

The team consisted of Al, Adele, Christopher and Niamh Hadfield; Tineke & Joshua Brooks, and Claire, Sid & Jake.

An action-packed itinerary awaited

The weekend kicked off with a 5.7 mile walk along the Flamborough Cliffs on Friday 16th May featuring team mascot – Sadie the dog.

Saturday’s weather forecast was predicting a chilly 10 degrees, and so the group prepared for cold conditions - setting off just before 11:00am. The route included plenty of stops to take in the amazing views and wildlife, with the group witnessing multiple ‘bobs’ of seals and even a pod of harbour porpoises! Despite worries for a cold day, warm weather prevailed, which meant that there was also time for a paddle during the sea during the lunch stop.

After refuelling, the walkers caught the end of the Bridlington Kite Festival and had an ice cream before pushing on to find an evening meal stop – including a detour to a seaside arcade. Saturday was a busy one, with the team having walked for over 5 and a half hours – covering an impressive 12.25 miles.

When Sunday came around, there was time for one final activity – the high ropes course at the campsite. Adele Hadfield, Niamh Hadfield and Tineke Brooks took it to the next level, conquering the highest 45ft tier despite strong winds. Joshua Brooks (8) was the star of the show – showing incredible bravery and problem-solving skills.

Another successful Wellbeing Weekend!

Once again, the weekend was a resounding success, with quality time spent truly getting to know each other and their families better outside of work. Understanding priorities, daily challenges, and how each person tackles them will undoubtedly enhance collaboration and teamwork going forward.

The team experienced first-hand the importance of communication, problem-solving, and saw different leadership styles in action that just isn't possible at the office.

The shared experiences over the 21.89 total miles covered strengthened the team bond in a way that cannot be replicated at work alone. The physical and mental challenges faced together created lasting memories and a platform to continue building on.
