It's National Apprenticeship Week, which is designed to celebrate the value, benefit and opportunities that apprenticeships bring to learners. In honour of this, we spoke with three of our fantastic apprentices to find out more about their journey so far.
First up, we spoke with Callum Bridgman, our Junior IT Engineer
I’m currently completing a Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist – (Engineer Pathway) Foundation apprenticeship degree. I chose to complete an apprenticeship degree as I didn’t attend university before joining Inzpire; I had the qualifications but chose a more practical route.
After speaking with my management team, we identified that an option to complete a degree was possible and then decided on cyber security. It works really well for me, as I can apply my training in the workplace and see how what I have learned relates to the business.
This knowledge has further helped me to understand how and why IT elements work the way they do, which has helped with jobs I was previously unsure about. I’ve changed roles, and advanced quickly within the team, whilst filling gaps in my knowledge at the same time.
I would definitely recommend doing an apprenticeship; they are a lot of work, but the training and qualification at the end is definitely worth it! It only makes you better and puts you in a stronger position for further career development.
We then caught up with Pippa Bailey, our Apprentice Receptionist…
I am currently studying Level 3 Business Administration; this includes how to handle business operations effectively, understand communication varieties and develop skills. I attend lessons every other week and work from home once a week to study.
I decided to do an apprenticeship as I felt it was a great opportunity to push myself outside of my comfort zone. I felt lost in what to do with my career, so saw this apprenticeship as a fantastic chance to try something new. I love that I can study whilst also working too.
I’d really recommend doing an apprenticeship; they are a great way to learn whilst also gaining valuable experience. I’m able to demonstrate my new skills in the workplace and put these into practice every day.
I’m very grateful for this opportunity with Inzpire. The support services team has been a great help in making sure that I’m comfortable and understand the jobs I complete on a daily basis.
Russ Windle has almost finished his Level 7 apprenticeship through Loughborough University…
My apprenticeship has really helped me to develop my career with Inzpire, and I now have a greater understanding of the role of a Systems Engineer; I’ve now progressed to become the Configuration Engineering Manager within our Mission Systems team.
I’d definitely recommend apprenticeships to anyone who wishes to develop their career!
Finally, we caught up with Vicky Tinsley, our Learning and Development Manager, about why apprenticeships are so valuable…
“Inzpire has benefited from the fact that apprenticeships are open to people of all ages, backgrounds and career levels, which has greatly assisted us in attracting diversified talent. It has also helped us to enhance the development opportunities available to our people as they progress through their careers.
“The combination of study and work-based application that apprenticeships offer is invaluable for maintaining and growing our unique talent pool and delivering excellence to our customers.”
