Al Sutherland receiving his commendation from Air Commodore Davies, The Air and Space Warfare Centre Commandant.
We are very proud to announce that Inzpire's Al Sutherland has been awarded an AOC 1 Group Commendation for his exemplary work on the transition from the Defence Synthetic Air-Land Training (DSALT) programme to Gladiator.
Al, who works within Inzpire's Collective Training Division as an information management subject matter expert, has been with the company for over 13 years and for the entirety of his Inzpire career he has been based at the Air Battlespace Training Centre (ABTC) at RAF Waddington.
As a complex simulation environment, information is the lifeblood of the ABTC; there is a vast amount of it, with many complex handling requirements. With his keen eye for detail and encyclopaedic knowledge of the relevant regulations, Al has been instrumental in ensuring that the ABTC has continued to operate through numerous phases of change - so much so that this is in fact his second commendation. Al was awarded a JFACC commendation in 2015 for his support, hard work and innovative approach during the integration of Exercise COBRA WARRIOR capabilities in to the ABTC building.
Since then, there have been numerous major changes including the ABTC moving in to a new building ahead of the commencement of Gladiator. This move required a significant amount of work from Al, including in the area of information management and the installation of complex multiple communication information systems against the background of his routine support to the DSALT capability within the old infrastructure.
On handover of the new infrastructure following the final fix of communication information systems equipment, Al provided a number of critical points of advice which ensured the transition progressed quickly, efficiently and within budget.
Al's commitment, professionalism and positive attitude has ensured that the facility remains on track to achieve Initial Operating Capability for the Gladiator system. Much of his effectiveness has been outside the bounds of his contracted responsibilities; Al is the epitome of everything we strive for at Inzpire. He goes the extra mile, is proactive and totally customer focussed. Al is highly deserving of this formal recognition and we are so proud he has received his second commendation.
