After completing a degree in Chemical Engineering, including working in the Nuclear Industry for a year, John joined the RAF where he served as a Navigator for 27 years. Highlights of his service career included four front line tours on the Tornado F3 where he was an Electronic Warfare Instructor and a Flight Commander, and a tour as a fast jet navigator instructor on the Hawk. Interspersed with the front line tours, John completed the Aerosystems Course and spent three years detached to the Air Test and Evaluation Centre at BAES Warton as a Trials Officer for the Typhoon radar and chairing the Radar Test Group of the Four Nation Operational Test Centres. Recently, John has been at the centre of the Typhoon Defensive Aids Sub System development and Typhoon Mission Data production.
