Andy will be working for our Synthetic Training and Unmanned Experts and ISTAR Divisions.
Andy served nearly 26 years in the Royal Air Force as an Air Electronics Operator and then Air Electronics Officer. During his long military career, his flying roles included being a Radar/EW sensor operator/manager on the Nimrod MR2 maritime patrol aircraft and a Mission Commander on 51 Squadron’s Nimrod R1 SIGINT fleet, gaining 3700 flying hours on numerous Exercises and Operations including SHARPGUARD, MAGIC ROUNDABOUT, OBFIRM, VERITAS, HERRICK, ELLAMY and RED FLAG.

Amongst other tours, after Commissioning, he was Head of the Weapons Systems Operator Phase 2 Basic Course at RAF Cranwell and an Electronic Warfare Officer in the Air Warfare Centre. After graduating from the inaugural Qualified Weapon’s Instructor (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) course, he was posted to 54(R) Squadron ISTAR OCU as a QWI ISR instructor. Promoted to Squadron Leader, he spent 11 months with the Household Cavalry Regiment as their Senior ISTAR (AIR) advisor, culminating in a 7 month tour with 1 Mechanised Brigade on Op HERRICK 18. On his return, for his final tour, he took up a Flight Commander post back on 54(R) Squadron. His duties during the tour included heading up the Rivet Joint, Sentinel and Reaper OCU training flights. He was also Officer Commanding of the RAF’s ISR Warfare School.
