We're delighted to welcome Dave McDonald to our cyber team.
Dave’s career in policing started in the early 90’s as the last of the Metropolitan Police Cadet Corps. He moved into policing in Haringey North London before becoming a career detective, working in various areas of London.
Dave worked in the New Scotland Yard Serious Crime Directorate combatting the importation of multi-kilo drug shipments and the use and sale of firearms by organised criminal networks. He then moved into tackling some of the most dangerous criminals in society in the Met’s Paedophile Unit using covert tactics to track and arrest offenders.
This was followed by a move into the Counter Terrorism (CT) Unit (SO15) and National CT Police HQ National Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Unit, again using covert tactics to protect the UK from terrorists both internationally and domestically in cyberspace and in person.
As a detective inspector, he led a multi-agency team tackling violence against women in Lambeth and Southwark before his final posting leading the intelligence team for the Directorate of Professional Standards’ counter corruption team.
Dave has also been in consulting training for several years and as subject matter lead on open-source covert investigation, he designs and delivers training for a cyber and intelligence company to UK and international law enforcement services.
Alongside this, Dave has been married for 23 years with two wonderful children and two dogs. He has also represented Team GB in white water rafting at several world championships (as pictured) and loves cold water swimming throughout the year on the south coast.
Great to have you on the team, Dave!
