Derek Lawton joins us as a graphic designer working within our Intelligence Division.
As a multi-award-winning brand designer, Derek has over three decades of experience in delivering branding, web, multi-media, and graphic design solutions to businesses worldwide. He has extensive marketing skills, backed by solid business expertise.
Born and raised in Llanelli, South Wales, Derek graduated with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design and Technical Illustration from the University of Wales Swansea.
Following graduation, Derek took up a position as graphics officer at RAF Strike Command (Air Command) in High Wycombe, designing and creating graphics for operations, training support, flight simulation and flight training presentations.
With an ability to illustrate and paint in both traditional and digital media, he soon became the go-to-guy for the ‘special’ tasks that needed a little sparkle, or comedic rendering!
Since leaving the MOD Graphics, he has held creative director positions in a number of large design, advertising, and marketing agencies, and in 2003 set up as a freelance creative designer.
Derek enjoys being part of a team, and doing the best he can to make that team a success. He’s a bit of a joker apparently, but promises to behave himself at Inzpire, for now at least!
Moving from Cardiff to Lincolnshire in 2014, Derek lives with his wife Lorraine, and their Beagle-Staffy cross Harley.
Being an ex-rugby player, any spare time he has now, is mostly taken up playing his trumpet in a variety of local jazz and big bands, including the Nottingham Jazz Orchestra.
