We’re delighted to welcome Jo Bowes to Inzpire as a senior training consultant.
Jo joins our Training Services Division having spent 11 years in the Royal Air Force, initially as an information communications technology technician and then later as a training specialist. Prior to this she spent four years within the education sector.
Beginning her RAF career as an ICT technician in 2012, Jo spent the first half of her career working within the deployed services area of the Chinook Force, offering technical support to various squadrons, and ensuring personnel were adequately equipped for their roles overseas. This included various deployments as the sole communications specialist, predominantly in support of the Chinook Mission Support System, but she was also on hand to offer technical guidance on all other readily used IT systems.
This period also involved a deployment to the Falklands where Jo maintained and supported critical radar and radio equipment used by the fighter controllers and battlespace managers, as they were then called.
Deciding to then go back to her educational routes, Jo chose to apply to become a training officer. On completion of her training, Jo returned once again to the Chinook Force, this time as the station training officer at RAF Odiham where she was responsible for the personal and professional development of all station personnel.
This then led to her being offered the opportunity to move on to 7 Squadron, where she worked in a training consultancy capacity as the resident training and development specialist officer. This was an invaluable experience which involved managing the training system for aircrew and working to improve existing processes, offering specialist guidance to all those involved in training activities.
Jo finally parted with the Chinook Force in 2021 to take up a role within a whole force training transformation team at Air Command, RAF High Wycombe. Here Jo gained initial exposure to change management, through being responsible for a weekly virtual webinar series offered to all personnel across the RAF and beyond. This was at the same time as working alongside external contractors to redesign an existing virtual learning environment.
During her RAF career, Jo has continued with her own learning by completing internationally recognised practitioner level qualifications in change management, Association for Project Management and agile project management, alongside becoming an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) post completion of a diploma in learning and development.
Away from work, Jo enjoys watching and playing tennis (getting tickets for Wimbledon whenever possible), long walks and socialising. She lives near Epsom with her partner and Mako the cat.
