We are delighted to welcome David Westley to the Helicopter Services Division as a Civilian Qualified Helicopter Instructor (CQHI) flying the Wildcat AH Mk 1 on 652 (Operational Conversion) Squadron, Army Air Corps (AAC) in Somerset.
David has conducted a seamless transition from squadron training officer after 36 years in the Royal Navy. He served worldwide on exercises and operations on numerous squadrons and ships including HMS OCEAN, FEARLESS and all three previous carriers.
David spent eight years with the AAC, flying Apache, and has also flown the Sea King, Lynx, Gazelle and Wildcat amassing 7000 flying hours. As an A2 QHI with over 25 years instructional experience, he is particularly passionate about operational focused aircrew training and was involved in the first deployment of the Wildcat to sea, Norway and the desert.
He looks forward to continuing to deliver world class Wildcat aircrew conversion to type and role training, while also serving in the Royal Naval Reserve supporting the Commando Helicopter Force.
David and his wife live in somerset and have three children and two grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys the great outdoors, white-water canoeing, hill walking and cycling.
Welcome to the team David, great to have you at Inzpire!
