We’re delighted to welcome David Morris to Inzpire.
David joins our Helicopter Services Division as a part-time release to service advisor working from Bristol DE&S. This follows a 38-year career in the Royal Air Force, having joined as a navigator in January 1985. The majority of his 4500hr flying career was spent with the Support Helicopter Force and many on operations in Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.
He completed staff tours in capability development, specialising in helicopter platform protection systems and mission support systems, and six years in the RAF Release to Service Authority assuring the airworthiness of new Chinook helicopters to the RAF senior duty holder. His final tour was as an Operational Evaluation Unit flight commander for RAF SH (Puma and Chinook), conducting the test and evaluation of new capabilities prior to front-line use.
David is still serving, having recently attested as a member of the The Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAuxAF) where he will be working at RAF Benson as a staff officer within the Puma Force Headquarters; addressing new capabilities for the venerable Puma 2 as it redeploys to Brunei and Cyprus; and helping with the introduction of its replacement, the New Medium Helicopter.
He aims to apply his blend of requirements, airworthiness assurance and test and evaluation knowledge to his work with Inzpire, at a very exciting time in military helicopter equipment procurement, over the next few years.
Married to Rebecca and father to two sons (23 & 19), he lives in South Oxfordshire with a permanently hungry and elderly Labrador (Benson) and a collection of delicate, water-soluble Italian classic cars which seemingly take up most of his non-working hours. David is also a keen adventure motorcyclist (off-road) and sports bike rider; both age-inappropriate hobbies seem to offer many opportunities to meet medical professionals and help with the planning for his round-the-world motorcycle trip, once fully retired.
Welcome to the Inzpire team David, great to have you with us!
