James Clarkson joins Inzpire's Mission Training Devices (MTD) division as lead engineer.
James graduated from university, studying computing with a specialism in visualisation, to start his career as a software developer working for a virtual reality (VR) systems integrator in Manchester. After three years he transferred into the systems department to install and commission immersive displays and VR systems to a multitude of clients including the VR trainer for helicopter rear crew at RAF Shawbury and Valley. After promotion, James led the systems team delivering immersive VR systems to customers from varied industries all over the world, expanding this remit to include customer support and training.
After leading the systems team for eight years he moved company to become a project manager for a theme park entertainments manufacturer in Birmingham. His first project was the Derren Brown Ghost Train at Thorpe Park, for which he was the turnkey-delivery project manager, tasked with delivering the customer's largest ride experience to date. Subsequently, he worked on various media attraction projects for customers including National Geographic Family Entertainment Centres.
Having a life-long passion for rotary aviation, James learned to fly helicopters (PPL-H) in his spare time and moved to work for Ascent Flight Training at RAF Shawbury creating lesson plans and scenarios for use on their new, large simulators. After six months he was promoted to qualified instructor within ground school and, after the Defence Train the Trainer course, taught military rotary trainees (including instructors) about the simulators and their operation. Whilst undertaking this work, he continued to develop the simulator content as Military Flying Training System training evolved over the first five years of live operations.
James has now joined Inzpire's MTD division to find new challenges in the exciting field of military simulation and training with one of the UK's most respected military training providers.
James lives in Cheshire with his wife Catharine and son Rowan, where they enjoy a multitude of activities including photography, walking, cycling, swimming, and camping whenever the weather allows.
Great to have you on the team James!
