We’re delighted to welcome Tim Brown to our Collective Training Division as a TAC Air C2 subject matter expert. Tim previously served in the Royal Air Force for 30 years, enjoying a varied and interesting career. His early years were operationally focussed and were spent primarily on the E-3D component. Although, he was also fortunate to enjoy a fabulous three years with the United States Navy in Virginia, gaining his ‘Wings of Gold’ during an exchange instructional tour flying the E-2C.
Operational experience was gained in the Falklands, Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, in addition to participation in multiple exercises worldwide; predominantly with the E-3D but also including time as an Army liaison officer, Combined Air Operations Centre ISR rep, Joint Force Air Component Commander augmentee and as part of a multi-national inspection team for the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
Tim is a Central Flying School qualified rear crew instructor and has extensive experience in training delivery and management as an instructor, operational conversion unit flight commander and commanding officer. He has completed staff tours in Air, MoD, Defence Intelligence, NATO and the Air and Space Warfare Centre and commanded at squadron and unit level.
Having left the RAF in 2021, he has spent the last two years project managing the delivery of the Air Surveillance and Control System multi-mission simulator at RAF Boulmer.
He is married to Kim with two grown-up daughters and an over energetic cocker spaniel. Comfortable in Lycra, Tim is a keen cyclist and distance runner, spending the summer months beasting himself around Northumberland and beyond. As a qualified mountain leader, he is the owner of multiple woolly hats often on display as he scares himself Scottish winter mountaineering; he also enjoys using his mountain leadership experience to deliver training to local RAF cadet units.
Great to have you on board Tim.
