We are delighted to welcome Andy Hopper to Inzpire’s intelligence and cyber division as a training design analyst.
Andy spent 23 years in the Royal Navy, training initially as an electronic warfare operator and deploying to the Caribbean.
Andy went on to spend 18 months training to be a SIGINT specialist at the Defence Intelligence Training Group (DITG) Chicksands and immediately afterwards deployed to the Middle East, following the events of September 11th 2001. It was during that deployment that Andy discovered a desire to learn a language.
On returning to the UK, Andy embarked on his studies and spent the next 18 months completing a diploma in Arabic, followed by 6 months specialist dialect training in the US.
Andy was then posted to GCHQ, NSA Georgia and then on to JSSU Digby, where, when not deployed, he was managing a team of 40+ linguists and intelligence analysts, providing intelligence force protection to troops on operations around the globe.
During these postings, Andy deployed on 6 surface and 3 sub-surface platforms, on counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics and counter-piracy operations, in the role of embarked linguist and SIGINT advisor to front-line commanders.
His final role in the Royal Navy was managing intelligence analyst and operational linguist training for defence.
Following his time in the Royal Navy, Andy completed short stints at the NCA and the MOD, both in intelligence roles, before taking up his current role with Inzpire. He’s now back at Chicksands, where it all began all those years ago.
