New JoinersTraining Services
Phil joins us as a principal training consultant within the Training Services Division having spent 20 years as a training specialist in the MOD.
Following completion of a bachelor’s degree in geography at St Andrews University, he joined the Royal Air Force in 2003 as a training development officer. Phil's early career highlights included training development advisor roles for both the RAF Police School and 20(R) Squadron (Sqn) which operated the Harrier GR9.
He then taught a generation of RAF training officers whilst working at the Defence Centre of Training Support, deployed as part of numerous short-term training teams delivering training to partners around the world.
Promotion to squadron leader was rapidly followed by a deployment to the NATO Training Mission Kabul, working on the Afghan National Security University project and conducting wider training and education mentoring to senior Afghan National Army officers. On his return, Phil moved to command of mission support flight at 29(R) Sqn, RAF Coningsby, with responsibility for flight operations, planning, administration and training design functions.
A move into capability at Joint Helicopter Command, Army HQ, involved leading on all training elements for rotary wing and related procurement projects including the Chinook Mk 6 and Puma 2. His selection for command of Airmen's Command Sqn at RAF Halton was a dream come true with responsibility for the overall management of all command, leadership, and management training for RAF non-commissioned officers. He was then deployed to Kabul for the second time where he led the planning team for strategic communications and information operations at HQ Resolute Support.
On promotion to wing commander he became the director of Senior Leaders Programmes at the Defence Leadership Centre. Poole ran 1 and 2* leadership and management programmes for three years, designing and delivering the first collaborative Advanced Defence Senior Leaders Programme for 2* from across defence and partners across government.
Following a brief secondment to a project team working on joint professional military education, Phil moved back to RAF Halton. He assumed command of the RAF’s training requirements analysis wing, commanding teams of training analysts from all branches and trades responsible for analysing all RAF training requirements.
During his RAF career his academic studies included completion of a Master of Business Administration degree, a Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice, and the Association for Project Management (APM) Project Management Qualification.
Phil lives in Northamptonshire with his wife, two young daughters, and Coco the dog. He loves outdoor activities particularly mountain biking, paddle boarding and wild camping in his VW van.
Welcome to Inzpire Phil, we’re delighted to have you on board!
