We are delighted to welcome Vicky Tinsley to Inzpire's support services team. Vicky joins us as a learning, development and talent manager.
Vicky was born and grew up in Northern Ireland and after some time working as a PA and then in telephone sales, relocated to York to start her career in learning and development (L&D) in what was Norwich Union (now Aviva). Her first experience of L&D was as a research and development consultant, working with both internal and external stakeholders to research and design training programmes for internal financial adviser sales teams. This gave her a fantastic basic grounding in learning theory, methodology and design. Aviva offered lots of opportunities for Vicky to progress and she moved to a training consultant role covering the midlands, north, Scotland and NI, working with sales directors to develop sales and support teams to meet and exceed both sales and behavioural competency requirements.
Vicky then got the opportunity to move in to insurance within Aviva, providing development solutions for external partners such as large insurance brokers, high street banks and building societies. In this time, Vicky's business acumen developed greatly as she worked to meet contractual agreements and demonstrate tangible business benefit to both parties. Vicky was later promoted and ended up leading this team; a great achievement which she says was very challenging!
Vicky spent a considerable part of her career in financial services and insurance and in 2010, moved from Aviva to Legal & General. She hopped back over the fence to financial services working with both internal sales teams and key external financial adviser firms and bank assurance, again demonstrating mutual benefit to L&G and the external organisation.
Following redundancy from L&G, Vicky did some contract work for a credit card organisation and with Royal Mail, where development was required following a large acquisition and in relation to a cultural change programme. Vicky classed these contracts as "fun and eye opening", but she missed the long-term relationships from being employed and being part of the longer term development journey of individuals.
From there, Vicky returned to full time, permanent employment with URIS Group in 2014 as their training manager, based in Doncaster. This was a great role giving her the opportunity to build a team and drive the group-wide L&D strategy, development programmes and talent development within their ever changing culture. During her time there Vicky achieved an ILM qualification, became an Insights Discovery Practitioner and started working towards her Level 5 CIPD. Being nominated for and winning awards both internally and externally for the LMS she introduced and achieving “Recommended” by Doncaster Chamber of Commerce for People Development, was a great achievement for Vicky.
Vicky lives in East Yorkshire with her husband and really values time her family, which has been lacking this year especially with those in Ireland. She loves long walks with George, her scruffy terrier cross who is constantly in trouble due to his huge personality! In her spare time Vicky can often be found sewing; making cushions, quilts and lots of Christmassy decorations!
Welcome to the team, Vicky.
