World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on 10th October to encourage people to come together and talk about mental health.
This year’s theme is particularly crucial to us at Inzpire, as it is workplace mental health; this is to highlight the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace for the benefit of all individuals, businesses and communities.
According to data acquired by mentalhealth.org.uk, 15% of UK workers are estimated to have an existing mental health condition, with approximately 875,000 workers suffering from work-related stress, depression and anxiety. In 2022, the 5th most common reason for sickness was mental health.
Our Employee Wellbeing Network (EWN) was formed to harness the enthusiasm and skills of our people and help to ensure that all team members remain informed, consulted and engaged across all wellbeing matters at Inzpire.
We spoke to our colleagues, some of whom are part of the EWN. Here’s what they had to say…

Adele Hadfield, Associate Project Manager and member of the EWN:
“Mental health is crucial because it affects how we think, feel, and act in our daily lives, influencing our ability to handle stress, form and sustain relationships, along with make decisions. Prioritising mental well-being raises resilience, productivity, and a better quality of life, helping individuals and community in the workplace.
“Our Employee Wellbeing Network at Inzpire plays a vital role in supporting employees by fostering a healthy, supportive environment that promotes mental and emotional well-being. We are always open to opinion, ideas and encourage anyone to be included.”
Caitlin Madin, IT Operations Manager:
“Good mental health contributes to emotional stability, resilience and life satisfaction. It helps individuals cope with stress, build healthy relationships and enjoy life.
“Prioritising and supporting mental health in the workplace helps reduce stigma, encourages open discussions and acceptance of mental health challenges which in turn reduces burnout and the risk of mental health issues that can disrupt work and personal lives.”
Inzpire employee, who wishes to remain anonymous:
“We are in a world that is continually evolving faster than ever before (especially post-pandemic), where we are always contactable. It is so important to create and normalise mental health parameters to give you and your workforce a break.
“Think before you send a work message out of hours and the impact that has. Rest and recuperation is critical for your mental health, wellbeing and the business’s success – people are our most important asset”
